The Vampire Diaries featuring MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Rouge in Burgundy-13 (Review)

This look is featuring Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge in Burgundy.

Man do I wish I was a vampire. Everlasting beauty. Immortality. Flight. Super strength. Compulsion (glamouring).

The only drawback is that you have to feed on human blood. But that might just be an acquired taste. I’m sure I’d get used to it as a vampire. Oh– and no sunlight. I would definitely struggle with that.

Since the disappointing loss of one of my favorite shows, True Blood, I have been filling the hole solely with The Vampire Diaries. Totally different from True Blood, a lot less sexy (comes on the CW), and had me hooked at season 1, episode 6 (took me a while to get into this Dawson’s Creek-like high school-to-college drama).

So when I’m not glued to the tube, I am finding ways to at least pretend I’m a vampire πŸ˜‰

With this look, I feel like I am channeling Pam from True Blood (although she wears pink lipstick a lot) or Katherine from The Vampire Diaries, whom I miss dearly!

The look:

I almost opted for a nude lip but decided that the red would go very well with the black lace top. I recently purchased Aqua Rouge from Make Up For Ever ($24.00) in Burgundy (13) and have been testing it out. The liquid lip color includes the color on one end and a gloss on the other end. When applied, the color dries to a matte finish, which is just as appealing to me (see previous post). For this look, I decided to add a little gloss to bring more attention to my lips, as they were the center of attention. I found that you don’t need that much of the gloss. I applied it only to the outer line of my bottom lip and mashed them together a few times. That was enough gloss for my entire lips.

To make application easy, line the bottom lip with the applicator brush and then apply to the bottom lip. Mash together, and then do the top lip. The lipstick will be tacky while drying, so try to mash with haste. Once dry, apply a second coat, if needed (I did). Let that dry and then use gloss as directed above.

I ate mac and cheese and drank bourbon through this lipstick and did not need to retouch it, although the gloss had disappeared. At the end of the night, I was left with an evenly applied, matte lip. I must say that I did generously apply lip balm before using, as this lipstick can be drying. It can only be removed with makeup remover and will leave a stain.

What do you guys think? Vampire material? I think so! Maybe I just need to smile less!
