Smooth Snailing: MIZON Multi Function Snail Repair Eye Cream Review

Yes, another eye cream review, and you know what? THIS. STUFF. IS. AWESOME!

The funny thing is... I really don't know why I like it so much. It doesn't "fix" my eye bags, but somehow the area around my eyes just feels so much brighter and livelier. I am naturally skeptical about eye products (although that doesn't stop me from buying them) and I excited to try Mizon's Snail Repair Eye Cream ($14.95 via Amazon) but wasn't looking to see any miracles.

I see a lot of Korean beauty products claiming to have brightening powers but I always thought that just meant lighter. I really don't think that's the case here.

I usually apply this every morning and every night after cleansing my face. It's the last step I actually do in the morning before applying my makeup, and the last step at night before bedtime. Here is an excerpt from the product page about what exactly it's supposed to do:
Outstanding skin regenerating effect – 80% of snail secretion filtrateMucin from snail slime helps skin regeneration. E.G.F (Endothelial Growth Factor)- E.G.F. is one of the cell components which starts decreasing from age 25. Snail repair eye cream containing E.G.F. helps sensitive skin around eyes, especially prone to wrinkles. Fine wrinkle care by adenosine & peptide , certified for anti-agingAdenosin and peptide are effective for skin firming. Dark Circle Care through Niacinamide for skin brighteningNiacinamide helps to solve dark circle problems by controlling melanin formation.
So my first question was, ummm niacinimide... what is that? So I googled it. From Paula's Choice:
What is niacinamide? Also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinic acid, niacinamide is a potent cell-communicating ingredient that offers multiple benefits for aging skin. Assuming skin is being protected from sun exposure, niacinamide can improve skin's elasticity, dramatically enhance its barrier function, help erase discolorations, and revive skin's healthy tone and texture.
What are the benefits of niacinamide? Topically applied niacinamide has been shown to increase ceramide and free fatty acid levels in skin, prevent skin from losing water content, and stimulate microcirculation in the dermis. It also has a growing reputation for being able to treat an uneven skin tone and to mitigate acne and the red marks it leaves behind (known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). It is an excellent ingredient for those struggling with wrinkles and breakouts. Niacinamide is stable in the presence of heat and light.
Ok, sounds good. I still don't quite know what it is that makes me love this product. I don't get dark circles so that doesn't apply to me. I could care less about moisture because my skin is so oily. I know that area of the eye really thrives on moisture so I can report that it's good I can use something to moisturize that area and it not bother me.

I'm guessing I was mistaken about the brightening equating to lightening. Because of my eye bags, I thought I NEVER wanted to accentuate that area of my face, but I really love it. It just makes me feel like I have my skin from when I was 15 years old or something.  And that's why I like it. Definitely a staple in my regimen!
