KIKO Water Eyeshadow in Dark Slate Green (213) Review

When I first saw this Water Eyeshadow in Dark Slate Green (213) ($11.00) at the new Kiko store near my house, I was instantly drawn to it. I am totally a visual person and the textures and design of this eyeshadow compact really was a no-brainer for me. There were a ton of other colors, but this beautiful, deep green was irresistible!

Packaging is very lightweight and is plastic without looking cheap. I really appreciate that it has a mirror as well; it comes in hand for retouching, which you will need to do. It made a great travel companion on my recent trip to Cancun and Miami.

Application was great; it went on easily and quite smooth. I used two layers for the look below. I wore it for an 8-hour work day; applied in the morning and removed as soon as I got home. Unfortunately, it was gone from my crease and definitely could have used a retouch during the day. The disappointing part is that I used a primer (UD Eyeshadow Primer in Sin) in the morning and I still experienced heavy creasing and eventual fading of the shadow.

I also used this to go out and party when I was in Cancun. After a hot night of dancing and debauchery, the eyeshadow did not hold up. I’m not sure what I’d have to do to get this to stay for a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps I will try using a cream based, thicker primer, such as a NYX Jumbo Pencil.

Also wearing ColourPop Lippie Stix in Fetch. which surprisingly performed well for me on this day. I think my problem with Fetch and Yasmin was that I was using a lip balm beforehand instead of just applying it directly to my lips. Perhaps I will give these Lippie Stix another chance after all. As for the KIKO Water Eyeshadows, meh… I’ll keep working with it to see what works. It’s such a pretty color, it just doesn’t last long. These are apparently “dupes” for Mac’s Extra Dimension Eyeshadows. Perhaps I will compare longevity to those.
