Relaunch of Dior Addict Lipsticks & a Review of Oversize

Dior has relaunched their Dior Addict Lipsticks ($35.00) for the fall and guess, what? I really, really like them, which surprises me because they are semi-sheer. I generally don’t waste my time (or money) on products that aren’t fully opaque (just a personal preference) but this lipstick is so classy-looking, super moisturizing, and totally buildable! It lasts on me until I eat something then I have to reapply. Although it’s semi-sheer coverage, I’m quite impressed and satisfied with the pigmentation you get.

When they launched I went to Nordstrom and Sephora to see the goodies. I ended up picking up the color Oversize (685) for myself and I’ve got my eye on a few other shades. πŸ™‚

Before I get on to the swatches, one thing that I noticed was the three different categories of the lipstick: Glow, Flash, and Glitter. However, it seems like if you don’t know which one you’re getting when you purchase it, it gets lost in the clouds. I found nothing on any website that reminds me which family of lipstick I got. I took this handy dandy picture of the display and if you zoom in close enough, you can actually see the numbers and sometimes the colors on the lipstick. I think Oversize is way in the back of the Flash family.

Glow shades with a subtle pearly shine blend tone-on-tone to naturally bathe the lips in light.

Bold and electric Flash tones dare to play with pure, accented colour on the lips.

Glitter hues brimming with iridescent shimmer or glitter dramatically reflect the light.

On to the packaging… As you can see from the pictures below, the actual packaging of the product is different from what you see in the display. The ball of color is actually the same silver color as the rest of the lipstick, like the fake one in the top left corner of the display photo. The casing is a beautiful heavy plastic (?) material — it looks like metal, giving it a very futuristic look. The actual applicator might just be metal, I’m not sure but as you are capping it, there is a magnetic force that does all the work for you. So all you need to do is slide the lipstick in and a magnet makes sure it’s closed; that’s really cool!

I did swatch a few colors before I settled on Oversize. Have a look:

L to R: Bold (780), Diorkiss (578), Girl (485), Must have (579), Fusion (752)
L to R: Tout Paris (762), Girl (485), Oversize (685), Be Dior (976)

I am pretty predictable when it comes to lip colors. As you can see from the swatches, I swatched Girl twice (two different occasions) and made my way back to Diorkiss after I tried the old version (seen here). A couple things of note: the shade Tout-Paris is supposed to be a Sephora exclusive, but I spied it on the Nordstrom website. So if you’re not VIB Rouge and you really want this color, it looks like it’s available via the Nordstrom website. Also, I don’t see the color Fusion online anywhere. I swatched this one at Nordstrom so if your heart is set on that shade, you may just have to go in store for it.

Now for pictures of me in Oversize!

In the photos above, I applied the product quite liberally. I love how the color looks on me. Professional. Feminine. Definitely a keeper!
