Sephora Wonderful Cushion Matte Lip Cream | Totally Underrated!

The Sephora Wonderful Cushion Matte Lip Cream ($8.00) surprised me. I’m not sure why because I have been saying since… well forever, that the Sephora Collection is totally underrated.

The lip cream is housed in a tube applicator that you need to squeeze in order to release the product. I was really coy with the tube at first, but you really should give it to the applicator. I mean squeeze it a bit harder than you normally would. I was under the impression that the lip cream would come out faster and more fluid than it did. It’s actually a pretty thick cream, and to get a semi-full coverage lip, I had to use more product than expected. I also really like the cushion applicator, as I feel it helps the product sink into the lips.

I swatched three of the colors before settling on Wonderful Red. As a huge matter of fact, I wasn’t that interested in these until seeing them in the store. If you have seen these online and are interested in them, go swatch them first. The colors online aren’t a match to what they look like in real life. I swatched Wonderful Rosy and Wonderful Magenta in addition to Wonderful Red. I am thinking of adding Wonderful Magenta to my collection; it’s just as beautiful as Wonderful Red.

To remove, I used Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil; its a pretty good cleansing oil and there was still a stain left behind on Red and Magenta. Made my heart beat a little bit faster (if you can’t tell, I am a fan of lip stain).

The color never reached full coverage for me, which is just fine. Whenever I think cushion, I think light or sheer coverage anyway, so this was just fine with me. The lip cream is transferable but only to a point. After eating and drinking, I still have a significant amount left on my lips, and it’s quite natural looking. I opted not to reapply after and just went with the “just bitten” look.

The lip cream is on the drying side, so I use lip balm before using. I noticed the lackluster reviews on the Sephora website and I find some of them to be unreasonable. The lip cream is only $8.00 and exceeded my expectations. I say, give these a chance.
