Carefully Curated Recommendations for the Sephora VIB Sale

Saturday, November 04, 2017

This post is all about taking the best advantage of the VIB sale Sephora holds every year. The sale comes around twice a year but this particular sale is closest to the holidays - just in time for you to treat yourself, and also get a deal on things you've been wanting at the same time. I'm calling this a carefully curated list because of how exclusive and particular I am being about the items on this list. I also wanted the items that made the list to spark a large amount of joy, so that you will always want to reach for whatever you end up choosing. Some of the items on the list, I've already tried and others, I long to try. Following are my carefully curated picks for the Sephora sale.

5 Lipstick Picks

Nars Powermatte Pigments ($26.00)
I'm adding these to the list because I love the formula and I have been looking for a reason to get more of these. The sleek, sexy packaging will have you reaching for these all the time. I've previously reviewed London Calling and Under My Thumb, both beautiful shades. I now have my eye on American Woman and Warm Leatherette.

Pat McGrath MatteTrance Lipsticks ($38.00)
I have not been able to get my hands on any of the Pat McGrath products since they were released, mainly because of the high price tag. What better time to take advantage of a discount?! I've been lusting after the MatteTrance lipsticks with sorrow in my heat. A lot of the shades are sold out, but there are still some left on Sephora. The nudes are what immediately caught my eye: 1995, Omi and Flesh 3.

Fenty Beauty Starlit Hyper-Glitz Lipsticks ($19.00)
When I went to have a look at these lipsticks in Sephora, I was surprised to find how much I liked these, from the packaging, to the fun, but still wearable shades. I felt like a rockstar after trying on Supernova! I would encourage you to not sleep on these lipsticks!

Left to Right: Supermoon, Gravity, Sci-Fly, Supernova

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks ($24.00)
I have been hemming and hawing over whether or not to get these. All it took was a sample of Chutney in a Sephora order I recently made to convince me. The formula is similar to the Nars Powermatte Pigments, but more moisturizing. I don't know why I was so surprised, as Bite Beauty still has the most moisturizing lipstick formula I have ever tried. Demi-Glace and especially Puree look very appealing to me as choices.

Hourglass Confession Refillable Lipstick Set ($54.00)
I am including this lipstick set because it's so luxurious, you get three lipsticks for the price of two, I feel the shades are going to look amazing on me, and the packaging is absolutely beautiful. Every time I pull I'm Addicted out of my purse, I feel like such a boss! The set is limited edition so it's now or never.

5 Eyeshadow Palette Picks

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette ($42.00)
I have been wanting this neutral to berry toned palette ever since it was released and I figured since it's permanent I can wait, and I had also just purchased the Master Palette by Mario. Now is as good a time as any to pull the trigger on this one. There have been so many Modern Renaissance inspired palettes, I feel like I ought to just go for the real thing.

Make Up For Ever Artist (Nudes) Palettes (on sale for $25.00)
I actually purchased this palette when I saw the price get slashed in half. I saw other Make Up For Ever Palettes go on sale that came out after this one, but the Artist Nudes never did. Until now! So not only is the palette half off, but go ahead and get you 15-20% off that too. I was only attracted to the nudes but the other color Artist Palettes have also been reduced.

Pat McGrath Mothership II ($125.00)
This is definitely a treat yo' self palette. And beyond that, it's absolutely gorgeous, from the beautiful glossy black compact to the cardboard package it comes in. The swatches look legit and I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about this palette.

Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Palette (Scandalust) ($49.00)
Every time I walk in Sephora, I feel like this palette is taunting me. I seem to always make my way back to the Marc Jacobs station and find myself playing with these beauties. I love how the shadows are laid out and imagine this would be a primary travel palette. I have swatched these with my finger and they are so buttery and pigmented.

Natasha Denona Sunset Eyeshadow Palette ($129.00)
While we are talking about treat yo'self palettes, the Natasha Denona Sunset Palette is gorgeous. It's one of the most expensive eyeshadow palettes I've seen on Sephora's site but you'll take ~$25 off with the 20% off for Rouge and $19 off for Beauty Insiders. Word on the street is that this is a highly pigmented, quality palette. I love the orange tones! And look at that packaging! Swoon!

5 Highlighter Picks

Becca x Chrissy Teigan ($46.00)
The Becca x Chrissy Teigan Palette was a surprise for me. At first glance, I didn't think I wanted it because the shades in the palette looked suspect but my lord the palette is beautiful on dark skin! I used the bronzer as an eyeshadow, FYI. This is supposed to be limited edition, so if you haven't picked this up already, maybe slide this in your cart.

Yesterday's #MOTD ✨ . Got a little teaser of the @beccacosmetics x @chrissyteigen Cheek Palette! I wasn't sure how it would look on my skin tone but it's sooooo pretty! 😍 I used the blush and the rose gold highlighter. I used the bronzer as an eyeshadow rounded out with @colourpopcosmetics Quatre . On lips is @lipstickqueen Cupid's Bow pencil in Golden Arrow . Eyes lined with @stilacosmetics Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner . Brows are @lagirlcosmetics Slim Shady Brow Pencil Blackest Black . . . . . . . . . #becca #beccacosmetics #beccaxchrissy #lipstickqueen #stila #stilacosmetics #lagirlcosmetics #colourpop #colourpopcosmetics #colourpopme #makeup #makeupforever #makeupslaves #beautyblogger #love #slave2beauty #wakeupandmakeup #bbloggers #bblogger #hudabeauty #cocoaswatches #instagood #makeupjunkie #beatthatface #instalike #instadaily #desimakeup #instamakeup

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops Set (42.00)
I jumped on the Custom Enhancer Drops when they first came out and whoa! I had never experienced such an intense highlighter. It's a liquid highlighter and a little bit goes a long way. So naturally, when CoverFX came out with a mini set, it went into my cart. I bought the shade Candlelight, and the mini set includes shades: Celestial, Halo, Rose Gold, Moonlight

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette ($62.00)
I almost included the Metallic Strobe version of this palette, but I kept being brought back to when I tried the Ambient Lighting Palette and loved the natural glow it gave me. This isn't a new palette but it's at the top of my list.

Guerlain Meteorites Baby Glow Touch Stick ($39.00)
I really love the way this highlighter looks on my skin. I was unsure about it at first swatch but once it got on my face, I felt so dainty! It reminds me of the subtle glow the Hourglass Ambient Light Palette has but you can build this up to be stronger. It's also pretty unique and I enjoy using it.

Victoria Beckham Estee Lauder Highlighter ($75.00)
While currently removed from the website, keep an eye out for this one. It was listed on Sephora's website when I checked yesterday and today it's not so either they've pulled it or the amount allotted for Rouge sold out. I can believe either of those because this might be the most highly coveted highlighter ever. I will certainly be trying to get my 20% off this highlighter (15% for Beauty Insiders), especially since the brand increased the price by ten whole dollars. In the meantime, the Nars Unfiltered I Palette is a great choice and includes three highlighters and three blushes. When I first got the palette it dominated my attention for months.

5 Skincare Picks

Sunday Riley Power Couple ($85.00)
I have had wonderful experiences with Sunday Riley's Good Genes. I've gotten tons of samples of it and vowed to purchase, but sadly haven't gotten around to it. Months ago, I but the Sunday Riley Sunday School set which includes the brand's Luna Oil. I fell in love with it. A dangerous game I play, fooling with Sunday Riley! The Power Couple Kit is the epitome of two birds and a stone.

Sunday Riley Sulfur Acne Mask ($55.00)
This stuff is AWESOME. I will be posting a review of it in a day or two, but believe me when I say it works. There are a few caveats, the biggest one being the smell. The first time I used it, the smell of sulfur overpowered me. I've since gotten used to it. It dries out my acne super fast (nothing gas been able to do this for me in the amount of time this has) and reduces those blemishes to nothing. Highly recommended.

Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm ($34.00)
I scraped the bottom of the jar of this stuff, it was so good. It had an extremely high joy factor for me, and it removed my makeup. You can read the review here.

Kate Somerville Exfolikate Glow Moisturizer ($65.00)
I have had my eye on this moisturizer for a long time. I love the brand's Exfolikate exfoliating scrub, and I completely romanticize what I think this moisturizer will be. I've not seen Kate Somerville in my local Sephora so I haven't had a chance to experience it. Now seems like a good time to get it!

Volition Beauty Turmeric Brightening Polish ($38.00)
Anytime I hear Volition Beauty, I think about Angela's balls. If not that, then this turmeric scrub. It seems like this product just keeps placing itself in front of me! I'm also super curious about turmeric in skincare, as I've never tried anything with turmeric in it that wasn't curry.
