Got Texture Issues? Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer to the Rescue!

I had my eye on the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer for some time. I’m not sure why, but anytime I see a heap of people come out saying something is great, I become very, very skeptical. That happened with this moisturizer courtesy of Influenster, by the way. I didn’t get mine from there, I bought it from Nordstrom. It was $65.00 and I gotta say, it’s pretty pricey for a moisturizer. However, it’s chock full of AHA’s and other interesting ingredients and I had already made my mind up that I was getting this. Kate’s down with the acids and so am I.

My skin type

Oily; I have acne scars on my cheeks that are slowly fading. A result of those scars are also light pock marks on my cheeks. I use acids to try and reduce the appearance of those, but I’m not sure if they have been much help.

What it’s supposed to do

From the brand: A duo of AHAs – Glycolic and Lactic Acids – combined with Pineapple, Pumpkin and Papaya Enzymes instantly reduces the appearance of surface dullness and uneven skin texture to reveal beautiful, glowing skin.

Ingredients

Water/Aqua/Eau, Cetyl Ricinoleate, Isostearyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Squalane, Lactic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Propanediol, Glycolic Acid, Myristyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Sodium Hydroxide, Lactobacillus/Pumpkin Fruit Ferment Filtrate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Bromelain, Papain, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract, Polysilicone-11, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Myristyl Glucoside, Cyclohexasiloxane, PEG-40 Stearate, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Maltodextrin, Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex, T-Butyl Alcohol, Citronellol, Benzyl Benzoate, Citral, Limonene, Linalool

How I use it

I use this moisturizer morning and night. It’s a lighter moisturizer, especially in the winter, and I generally need to use another moisturizer after this or a sleeping mask. It does tingle a little bit, but it’s hardly noticeable to me. If your skin is more sensitive, you may notice this more.

How long I used it

I have been using the moisturizer very consistently since mid-November.

What I like about it

I used to go hard on Kate’s Exfoliating Treatment and I love it. It didn’t take much to convince me I needed to try the Glow Moisturizer. The ingredients made it even more intriguing, as I have enjoyed skin success with a mix of glycolic and lactic acids. I just got a complement on my bare face last week and I do see an improvement in the texture of my skin on my cheeks, where I have the most concern and the most damage. After I use it, my skin feels very, very smooth.

What could be better

I wish this came with a spatula. It’s not a very thick moisturizer, but I feel like I am contaminating it each time I dip my finger in the jar. I would also say to plan to be up for a bit after using it, as it take a little while to seep in. Unless you’re a back sleeper (I am not)!
