For Bold and Defined Lashes, Try Maybelline Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect Mascara

I have been on a mascara kick lately. As brands and retailers stop giving away free mascara samples with beauty purchases, I have been forced to actually get out there and start testing mascaras that I would naturally choose instead of what was on offer. I recently picked up the Maybelline Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect Mascara and it’s pretty darn good.

My lash type

My lashes are naturally curly and short, so I want my mascara to give lots of definition to my lashes. I buy mascara based on the applicator brush and how dark the mascara is. The brush needs to have some sort of separating mechanism, usually that comes in the form of a comb. I was attracted to this mascara because the brush looked like it was made for separating and defining my lashes, and the shade was Very Black.

What it’s supposed to do

From the brandThis fresh liquid formula captures lashes from root to tip for a full-fan effect. Exclusive fanning brush with ten layers of bristles reveals layers of lashes for a sensational full-fan effect.

How I use it

I start from the middle of my lashes and work my way to the roots and the all the way through to the ends. I use this mascara on the top and bottom lash line. I use two coats for maximum effect.

What I like about it

I really purchased this as a direct comparison for my much more expensive Dior Pump N’ Volume Mascara. This one does a really good job at separating and darkening my lashes, exactly what I was hoping for. I don’t have an issue with clumping because I stop after two coats. The fluid is thick and very black and I love that I don’t have to continuously dip the applicator in the tube to get my lashes as dark as i need them to be. I believe this was 8 or 9 dollars, so the price was great as well.

What could be better

Because I bought this in the drug store, I didn’t know how it was being advertised until I googled it. I think the “fanning brush’ description is misleading. my brush has stubby little combs on it; I don’t expect Maybelline to advertise it this way but if you look at certain websites, the brush looks quite different from what it actually looks like IRL. I was able to see it in store so that wasn’t a problem for me. As far as the product’s performance, I can’t find anything to complain about. I do find it slightly hard to remove, even with cleansing oil but hey, I purposely got the waterproof one and it holds up.
