Son & Park Beauty Water

If micellar cleansing water turned you off to beauty water, let me just try and change your mind here. First of all, this is not a micellar cleansing water. In fact, it’s beauty water and I have never experienced anything like it.  It took me some time to even look at the Son & Park Beauty Water the right way because I just cannot with micellar water but this is so much better and so different. So what made me actually buy this after all this time it’s been out? It was on sale for $18 at Glow Society.

My skin type

Oily skin, acne scars and anti-aging are most most prominent skin concerns.

What it’s supposed to do

From the brand: The Beauty Water is not just a cleanser but it mildly exfoliates with willow bark and papaya extract to help sweep away dead skin cells, revealing brighter skin tone and smoother texture. Lavender water, rose water, and orange fruit extract impart a subtle hydration so your skin can be prepped to absorb the next skin care steps, while adding in a bit of moisture.

Ingredients

Water, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, PEG-7 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Pentylene Glycol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Xylitol, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Cedrus Atlantica Bark Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Water, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Oil, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit/Seed Oil, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Rose Flower Oil, Ferula Galbaniflua (Galbanum) Resin Oil, Thuja Occidentalis Leaf Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract , Mentha Piperita(Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, Mentha Spicata Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Origanum Majorana Leaf Extract, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Decyl Glucoside, 1,2-Hexanediol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Sodium Chloride, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Octanediol, Copaifera Officinalis (Balsam Copaiba) Resin, Protease, Alcohol Denat., Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol.

How I use it

In the morning and night after cleansing and/or after acid toning. I’ve also attempted to remove leftover mascara I missed while testing mediocre cleansing oils, but be warned that if the cotton pad it oversoaked, it will burn your eyeballs. If you only pour a little bit on the pad for the purposes of getting rid of leftover mascara, then you’ll be fine; just don’t let a bunch of the liquid get in your eye.

The beauty water has a consistency of actual water and I pour it on a cotton pad and swipe it over my entire face. I don’t use this for brightening or exfoliation as the brand claims it provides, just because my skin is used to way more intense ingredients for that purpose and I do not expect to see noticeable changes in brightening or texture with this product.

What I like about it

It provides an extra boost of moisture after cleansing, it smells great, it’s a great toner, even though I usually go for acid toners, it does actually remove old mascara, and I love the packaging. It’s simple yet sophisticated and looks great on the vanity. I initially thought this was a makeup remover like a micellar water but it’s superior to micellar water, doesn’t strip my skin, and doesn’t break me out. I’ve also used this to remove arm swatches and it’s beautiful for that purpose because it doesn’t leave my skin all dry and ashy like micellar waters do. While I got this on sale, I’d pay the $30 for it (you get 11+ fl. oz.). To be clear, the product makes a lot of claims; I purchased this to use as a moisturizing toner and it 100% works for that purpose. This is not, not, not a micellar water and it’s definitely worth a try.

What could be better

I don’t have any complaints about it other than the burning eyes when I oversoaked the cotton pad and shoved it against my eye. I’m sure no one else will do that lol.
