Beauty Within: Getting Fresh Air With a Cold

I just came back from a fantastic few days in NYC to watch a few matches at the US Open. It was fantastic! Waking up in the hotel room with a scratchy throat in the morning didn’t really bother me until the last day. I had no other symptoms so I figured I’d pop a Naproxen (or 2 Aleve’s) and it would go away. Well, by the time it was time for me to go, I knew I was sick.

Fast forward two days later and a bunch of over-the-counters, the thing that makes me feel much better is being outside! I can breathe 10x better, I don’t feel any congestion, and my mucus looks pretty clear (I did take a Mucinex an hour ago, also sorry if that’s TMI!). I got up this morning fed up with feeling like crap and just felt the need to get out of the house. Indoors, it hurt to cough, my throat was on fire, one nostril was clogged, I was hacking up nasty yellow phlegm, and I was congested which causes me headaches. One minute outdoors and I feel so much better. But also as soon as I go back inside where the air is recycled, my nose instantly starts clogging up.

I am kind of a baby when I’m sick so I definitely feel like hot garbage when I’m sick. That generally translates into me looking like hot garbage as well because I have very minimal desire to put myself together. I did go to work yesterday but I’m staying home today. Don’t need to put my coworkers through that!

Earl gray tea, oatmeal, and some Kleenex. Trying to drink loads of water as well.
It helps that it’s a beautiful day. Didn’t even think about putting makeup on!

So yeah. Listen to your body. It’s gonna let me know when it’s time to go back inside. It’s a beautiful day, so I might be out here for a while 😊.
