Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle- 12% Glycolic AHA Cream

I have been really good about consistency in my skincare regimen. I have very oily skin– always have. Strangely, I didn’t notice it as much when I lived in South Florida. Now that I live in a place where there are four seasons, somehow it seems as if my skin has gotten even more oily, if that’s possible. I have been using AHA Souffle for at least three years. I came off of it for a while, and remembered how my skin reacted to it once I got serious about refraining from whoring around with skincare products– face creams anyway, I still try random eye creams frequently. I bought it initially at Ulta, but I don’t live near one anymore so I just get it off Amazon now.

 This cream used to come in a jar (or maybe it still does but I can’t seem to find it), and I feel like it may have been a little bit stronger but that could be my imagination. I use this cream every morning– right after either exfoliating or using a cleanser. I exfoliate around two or three times per week with Ardell Frutique Papaya Enzyme Exfoliating Gel (review to come). The days I exfoliate, I don’t use my cleanser. For my cleanser, I have been using liquid Black Soap (review to come).

So after I do either of those things, I usually put this on right away, when my pores are still open. After application, you will feel a tingling sensation. It is actually more than a tingling sensation… If you have a pimple or something that tingling turns into burning. Since I started using this I definitely noticed a decrease in the amount of acne I get, which obviously decreases the acne scarring. My skin absolutely loves this stuff. And you only need about a dime sized amount. I rub this all over my face and neck. I let this settle in for about 5 -10 minutes and go do other things before I put anything else on my face.

It says to apply a sunscreen right after, which is a good idea. I am really just getting into sunscreen, but I find it has a lot of advantages. I know this is going to sound weird, but I don’t use a moisturizer on my face. And it’s because my face looks like I dumped it in a bucket of chicken grease after a couple hours when I do.

As far as improved texture, elasticity, and tone, I can say that it has had an effect on evening out my skin tone as far as the acne scarring. It isn’t as bad as it used to be, due to this and a number of other things. So this has played a part in that.

Does it reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles? My answer to that is does any cream actually do that? Lol, I really only have crows feet as far as wrinkles and I spy some faint forehead frownies, but I cant say that I have noticed a decrease in the crows feet. Maybe it’s just keeping them at bay… maybe it’s not!

In a nutshell, I will continue to purchase this item. And it’s spot on in price. A tube will run you around $15 retail, $12 on Amazon.
