A Dinner Party Look #MOTD

I’d love nothing more than to live out the rest of my life with unlimited funds to buy beauty products and fancy scarves, and marry a man that adores me and attends dinner parties with our wonderful friends every week, if that’s what the schedule calls for. In light of that, here’s a look I threw together, perfect for bourgeois dinner parties.

Dinner parties generally involve a lot of work involving your mouth: chatting, drinking, and of course, eating. You’ll want to wear a lip product that will hold up to all of that. I chose Lipstick Queen’s lip gloss in Mistress of Mauve. It’s a gloss that isn’t too shiny, doesn’t leave any color on glasses, and is moisturizing. It’s also such a dainty and feminine shade, you’re bound to be asked what you’re wearing.

For my base, I kept it really simple and used Laura Mercier’s Flawless Fusion Concealer, shade 6W for acne scar coverage, and shade 6N to brighten underneath my eyes and conceal my eye bags. I set the concealer with Laura Mercier Translucent Powder in Medium Deep.

Once seated, many people will be exposed to your side profile. Since my skin is relatively dark, I opted for a pigmented but soft blush. I went with the super affordable Sephora Collection Blush Me in Out of Control (Purple) and the highlighter Rayediant from the BH Cosmetics It’s My Raye Raye Palette. To increase that twinkle in my eye, I decided to use the highlighter as an eyeshadow as well. A couple coats of Lancome’s Monsieur Big Mascara finalized the eye look.

I’ve come to realize I prefer skinny to medium brows rather than the larger brows made popular through Instagram. I used Charlotte Tilbury Brow Lift in Naomi to carve out and fill my brows.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the decision to pull my hair back out of my face. I pulled some hair out on the sides and used a curling wand to create light curls to give the ponytail some character.

I was really happy with how this look turned out and look forward to many dinner parties this holiday season and in the near future.
