Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist (with Rosemary): Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50

Since I am upping my sunscreen game and am essentially a sunscreen virgin, I wanted to find something that was easy and effective. On a sunscreen-specific trip to Sephora, I picked up the Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist ($28.00). It’s described as a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 PA+++. It claims to be a matte finish three-in-one: sets makeup, controls oil, and delivers UV photoaging protection… a triple whammy!

What Makes This Goop Superβ€’ Innovative 3-in-1 mist delivers broad spectrum SPF 50 protection while serving double duty as your setting mist to finish your morning make-up routine as well as a mid-afternoon refreshing spray

β€’ Optical diffusing silica silylate controls oil and scatters light to reduce shine and provide a matte finish

β€’ Enlivened with an invigorating essence of antioxidant rich rosemary that helps improve complexion and soothe inflammation

This is what I have to say about Supergoop Defense Refresh Mist

  • I can do without the Rosemary, I asked the Sephora rep if there was a version without rosemary because I am not a fan of skincare with a scent. Unfortunately, there is not. I bought it anyway and I thought it would be fine but I really do wish there didn’t have to be a smell. I know that there are skincare benefits to rosemary but I just hate strong, herbal smells in my face stuff.
  • As a setting mist, I don’t have a lot to say about it. I think you would need to reapply throughout the day for this to be an effective setting mist; that’s not really cohesive to my lifestyle. Also, during the week, I am mostly in an air-controlled building so I really wouldn’t need to use this again for sunscreen purposes. I can’t say that this made my makeup last any longer than normal.
  • The best thing about this product is that I do notice my face less oily throughout the day! And of course, for the sun protection benefits. I will continue to purchase this for that reason alone.
  • The worst thing about this product is application. A setting mist is supposed to be just that — a mist! This is a friggin’ spray! It’s not gentle or misty at all. It just squirts on your face hard with no mercy! I flinch every time and close my eyes, just waiting for it to make the connection (so many “that’s what she said” jokes in there >_<).
  • The price is reasonable. I bought the large bottle (3.4 oz.) and I can’t imagine having to repurchase this again for another for another couple months. I saw other comparables are around the $40 range.

This is great and is just what I was looking for, but I am going to get a liquid sunscreen to implement into my skincare regimen as well. Better safe than sorry!

i think i've been waiting for something like this!!!! well..if it worked better to set anyways. but i've been trying to find a spf item i can apply mid way through the day with a face of makeup. 'cause you're suppose to reapply your spf right? but how are you supposed to do that when you have makeup on your face and rubbing in spf will just smudge everything around?!?! this is brilliant. but…it really needs to mist better…

I agree, Supergoop needs to decrease the pressure in the pump!
