Cafe con Leche: Kiko High Pigment Shadow

Kiko’s High Pigment Shadows ($9.00) in Pearly Coffee and Pearly Gold made a really great first impression on me when I swatched them. The brand claims they are a highly pigmented shadow for wet and dry use.

If I can just not beat around the bush, I will first say that I needed to use a primer with these. I have naturally oily lids and some creasing is understandable, but using this shadow without primer, for me, caused problems. When I used Pearly Coffee with Inglot’s Eye Makeup Base, the shadow stayed put all day long, even through yoga with NO CREASING! I attribute all that to the primer, which will soon be reviewed and glorified!

The shadow goes on smooth enough, and I found applying with fingers give the most intensity. Using a brush, I applied 2 coats over the base and blended out into my crease. I lined my lids with ColourPop Gel Creme Colour Swerve and used Hourglass Film Noir Mascara on my lashes (patiently waiting for those to grow back!); waterline lined with Benefit Bad Gal liner.

The packaging is compact and travel-friendly, but obviously made of plastic and not very glamorous, which is surprising coming from Kiko. I’m ok with practical, just surprised to see it from a brand that always seems to go above and beyond on packaging.

Here, I am only showing Pearly Coffee, but I have used Pearly gold as a brow highlight, without primer and it faded by day’s end. So the key here, is primer, primer, primer!
