YSL Touche Eclat Neutralizer in Apricot Bisque for Bags (Before & After Photos!)

Color correctors have gotten so much hype lately. I really don’t technically have a use for them the way most people use them: to conceal dark circles, so I use them to brighten up my eye area where my horrible bags reside. I was most interested in the YSL Violet Touche Eclat, but after swatching, I quickly realized Apricot Bisque was the one for me, based on what I wanted to use it for.

How-to choose:
Green: Corrects blemishes, conceals redness for an even skin tone.
Bisque: Corrects dark circles and dark spots. Illuminate.
Violet: Corrects yellow dull skin for a healthy glow.

Now I do own the Touche Eclat highlighter, but as far as concealers (the way I am using this) I like this color corrector much better than the highlighter under my eyes because there is no shine to it, whereas the highlighter tends to just highlight my bags.

I LOVE (yes in all caps) the formula! It’s nice and thick and pigmented and as I said it dries down matte. I blend a little bit with the actual brush before using a concealer brush to pat it down.

In the photos below, I show the color corrector applied, blended out, and with Eve Pearl Salmon concealer applied. In the last two photos, you’ll see how it looks with a full face, with Ben Nye Banana Powder to finish it off.

You will notice an obvious costume change (haha); in the previous photos, I ran out of time for work… the process was the same except I applied my foundation first. I used my Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion foundation.

As excited I was about these color correctors, I am pretty surprised to hear myself say that I wasn’t completely blown away by these. As you can imagine, a good reason being it was not used for its intended purpose. I imagine if I had dark circles, this would work great at neutralizing the darkness. That said, I don’t need to be blown away by something to love it! I swatched quite a few correctors before settling on this one, including the Sephora Bright Future Color Corrector in Melon (which I ended up buying anyway; review for that coming soon) and Becca’s Backlight Targeted Corrector in Papaya. I find that the YSL is superior

I just found that in the end, a regular old concealer under my eyes works just fine and using a color corrector is probably an unnecessary (and expensive) step for me. Does it cover my eyebags up better? Maybe. I can’t really tell, which probably means after I run out of this, it may or may not be a re-buy, I haven’t decided yet. I do love, love, love, that it’s matte. I just feel like after packing the powder on, everything on my face will be matte, so maybe it doesn’t really even make a difference. I know it sounds like I really love the product (and I do!) and I’m trying to talk myself out of it, but I’m not; I’m just saying, from a practical standpoint, it’s not a necessity (what is these days?).

So for me, this product is an either/or type product for me; meaning either use this by itself or use concealer.

I will continue to use this as a concealer (base?) because I really, really like the result for that purpose.
