Bald Spot Growth Update- It Grew Back In!

So at the beginning of August, I told you all I would be doing the Greenhouse Effect on my hair again because my hair came out with the closure I removed. Well, I lied. Not purposely, things just didn’t work out that way. I ended up sewing down my wigs for a large portion of this time and only did the GHE once! I was also traveling quite frequently, so I honestly did not have the time to do it.

Instead what I did was just general upkeep. I have found with my hair that once I just leave it alone, it sort of flourishes. Yes– when I ignore the crap out of my hair, it’s like “ok, now I’ll behave and do what you want me to do (kind of like men!).” And when I pay all this extra attention to it, it’s like, “well, I don’t feel like it just yet.” So annoying!

Just to remind you of the horror after I took out the closure here is a before shot:

Before

And here is what it looks like now:

After- 4 months later

So that’s four months of progress. Here’s what I have been doing to it:

Honestly, all I have really been doing to it besides leaving it alone, is keeping heat away from it, and not putting braids anywhere near it, so as not to stress out the strands in the area. For product use, I used Minoval (review to come) heavy on it, like every other day or so, and just kept my hair moisturized. I used Salerm Leave-In Conditioner whenever I used the Minoval, which was every other day. I had my wig sewn only on the sides so that I could just pull it back and get to that area.

I must say, after the first two months, I didn’t think that it would grow back at all. I didn’t see any progress really and the bald spot was so smooth. I thought that was a bad sign for sure! Then maybe in the third month, I saw some crinkles of hair starting to form.

Needless to say, no more closures for me! I think I may be done experimenting with that part of hair styling, or maybe just not do it myself! I find wigs to be more practical for me anyway and since it’s a wig, it’s like a built-in closure anyway– well that’s how I think of it!

Hair is resilient if the follicle has not been damaged. Good deal.
