My Spring Fling with Headbands

When I look at this photo, the first thing that jumps out at me is my makeup but more on that later! I’m here today to talk about headbands! I used to be really into them, especially when I wore my natural hair relaxed. Eventually the love started to fade, but my fling with them has started back up. The one I am wearing in this post is a medium-length, tie scarf headband – meaning it’s tied in a knot in the back of my head.

I put my hair in a low ponytail before I put it on, so I don’t end up tying my actual hair in a knot with the headband. To apply the headband, I folded this sucker in half twice (so only the front side of the design is showing) and tied it around my head, making sure that all the hair that usually falls on the sides of my face was out of the way. I also made sure to leave enough side part showing, as this is what brings this style together.

I don’t tie it too tightly because I don’t want to get a headache, which is common for me with headbands, but also because I needed to be able to cover up the top portion of my ears, so they don’t stick out like Dobby.

Here’s a closer look (taken with iPhone):

I love this style because it keeps my hair out of my face, bringing my facial feature forward in a more prominent way. I also love it because it’s not so casual that you can’t wear it to work (I did) and you can totally dress this down as well.

You’ll be seeing a lot more headband rendezvous from me this spring!
