Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet Liquid Lipstick – 506 (Fusion)

When the Giorgio Armani Lip Magnets ($38.00) came out, people seemed really into them. I held off because they’re pricey, I am trying to be more cautious of  over-hyped products, and I was just really unsure about the colors. Also, it’s not like I need another liquid lipstick but whatevs. I love the Maestro Fusion Foundation and the Eye Tints so I figured the joy on this one would be turned way up. I bought the color 506 (Fusion) as a nice little segway into the lipsticks.

Natural Light

My skin type

My lips are naturally dry and I generally use lip balm before using any lip product. For testing purposes, I tried the Lip Magnet with and without lip balm.

How I use it

The lip magnet is unique in a couple of different ways; it’s comes in a short bottle, and even the wand is short. The tip of the wand is pointy in the shape of a spade, I assume for application precision. I apply all over my lips and clean up with the tip of the wand. I don’t find that the pointy tip makes the application any harder or any easier. It goes on semi-opaque and I need two coats for full coverage. It appears streaky at first but once it dries down, it’s even and beautiful.

What I like about it

I love the color. It’s described as a medium pink mauve. You can literally wear this lipstick for any occasion. I also really like the packaging; it’s luxurious and small enough to fit in my tiny purse but large enough so that when I reach in, I find it easily. The lip magnet is also very, very comfortable on; this is definitely one of the better liquid lipstick formulas. If you are liquid lipstick averse, you will love this formula. It lasts pretty long on me until eating. Reapplying right over the old works well. I don’t find the liquid lipstick drying at all, which is a plus.

What could be better

The smell. It kind of smells like paint to me, or a bit chemically. I haven’t encountered this in other liquid lipsticks. It isn’t strong enough to be off-putting, but it always surprises me whenever I use it. It also transfers, which isn’t a big deal, but it would be nice if it didn’t. I took a while to decide on a color because they all seemed similar to me. I do wish there were more versatile colors.

Joy Factor

On a scale of 1-10, the Armani Lip Magnet is an 8!
