This look was inspired by Karen over at Makeup and Beauty Blog. She did a monochromatic Valentine’s Day look and I was so moved by it, I decided to recreate it, with a few modifications for my skin tone and tastes.
Here’s how I achieved this look:
Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + Foundation for long-lasting coverage throughout the work day and night. I set with Ben Nye Banana Powder under my eyes and around my smile lines.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette: shades Realgar and Cypress Umber
Fill in brows; I used Charlotte Tilbury Brow Lift in Naomi
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara; I’ll be publishing my review on this soon but it’s great for definition and separation of short, unruly lashes. It’s great on top and bottom lashes.
Tom Ford Le Mepris Lipstick; I went with something semi-sheer and obviously coral. I’d say this lippie pulled the whole look together.
Sephora Baked Blush Duo – I’ve not reviewed this and it’s sold out, so I will take this time to articulate a few thoughts on this blush:
- It’s a baked blush duo, with one side that’s supposed to be a highlighter of sorts and the other a matte blush. I use them both together when I use this blush
- The shade is Rose Emotion and it’s pigmented af; Sephora did a good job with this one and I genuinely hope they are just re-releasing these baked blushes and not discontinuing them altogether.
- You don’t need much; a coat and a half was enough for my dark skin
- It’s long-lasting and great for warm skin tones
Since trying this look, I have been experimenting with other monochromatic looks, but this one remains my favorite.
