What it’s supposed to do

From the brand: This vegan hybrid pressed serum is supercharged with patented Alguronic Acid, and fortified by AlgaProtein and nutrient-rich coconut water. It melts into the skin to recharge fatigued skin, visibly minimizing the appearance of fine lines and refining dull, uneven texture overnight. Wake up to beautiful, glowing, healthy skin.

Ingredients

Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Water (Aqua, Eau), Dimethicone, Glycerin, Methyl Trimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Ceresin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Ozokerite, Parachlorella Beijerinckii Exopolysaccharides, Chlorella Protothecoides, Algin, Hydrolyzed F-Fucoidan, Tripleurospermum Maritimum Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-52, Passiflora Incarnata Extract, Ribose, Collagen, Bidens Pilosa Extract, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil, Adenosine, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Biosaccharide Gum-4, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, BHT, Citric Acid, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Propanediol, Sodium Citrate, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum), Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hexyl Cinnamal.

How I use it

My skincare routine while using this serum consisted of:

  1. First and Second Cleanser: varied but generally consisted of a cleansing oil and regular liquid cleanser
  2. Milk Makeup Watermelon Serum
  3. Algenist Recharging Night Pressed Serum
  4. The Ordinary Mandelic Acid
  5. Moisturizer: varied;  most times I did not follow with a moisturizer as it’s enough for me, and also because the Mandelic Acid is an oil. If you’ve got dry or even normal skin, you will probably want to use a moisturizer after this.

I have been using the pressed serum twice a day everyday.

How long I used it

I have been using this serum for over a month, almost two.

What I like about it

It melts into your skin 😍. I press this into my face and rub in the excess. I love the texture and consistency.

I LOVE the scent. I want to say it smells like coconuts but that’s not it. It’s not as intense as coconuts and has a way more sophisticated fragrance. It’s a big part of the joy this brings to me.

It makes me feel confident, sexy, and worth it, whatever it may be! I find that I can’t wait to use this in the morning. This is an excellent product if you want to treat yourself, or if you’re just into high-end beauty (I sooo am!).

It’s easy to incorporate into my skincare routine. It fits nicely in my regimen and does not make other products pill. The texture makes it workable with everything I am using.

I’ve been using it in concert with mandelic acid and the texture of my skin has improved. LOOK at these photos.

It definitely makes my dull morning skin appear more radiant and supple. I am not the best looking person in the morning but after I use this I often want to go to work without makeup (which I have done twice!).

The concept and packaging are exquisite! It’s so hard to innovate without being gimmicky in skincare, or the beauty industry in general and the efforts actually work. Algenist has managed to do both! I love that this is a balm and that it’s an effective product. I think some of the fine lines near my eyes are fading but I need more time to observe that. The packaging is luxurious and heavy, and easily looks great on my bathroom vanity.

A little bit goes a long way. I use a finger of the balm (about the size of a nickel?) and it’s enough for my face and neck. I have been using it for nearly two months and it’s just now half gone.

What could be better

Now, I have already mentioned that this serum is expensive. It’s $95. BUT FEAR NOT! Algenist was awesome and provided me with a 20% off $100+ code for my readers! Use BELLA20 at checkout. Do not dally because the code expires June 15! (Does not apply to gift cards, and cannot be combined with rewards points, subscription, or other offers.)

You can also opt for 10% off orders of $50+ using code MAY10, but this code expires May 29th.
