Bioderma Sebium Mat Moisturising Mattifying Fluid

Bioderma Sebium Mat Moisturising Mattifying Fluid ($16.95) is a great option for those with oily skin. I just love it when a brand says their product is supposed to do something, and it actually does it.

Thanks to its high matifying power, Sébium Mat instantly and lastingly acts on all the causes of shiny skin:It regulates biological sebum secretion thanks to the synergic action of its sebo-regulating agents (zinc gluconate, vitamin B6).It neutralises reflection through the unique action of original microparticles (silica and micropearls). The skin reflects less light (optical correction). It absorbs sebum excess.AHA esters improve skin texture. It also contains the Fluidactiv® exclusive patented complex which biologically regulates sebum quality, keeping pores from becoming clogged and limiting the formation of blemishes.

I purchased the Sebium Mat because I have oily skin and am constantly looking for ways to effectively manage it so I don’t look greasy by noon. This cream is a really good product for that. When I use it, it is the last step before sunscreen. And yes, it does in fact control oil. Either that or it absorbs it… or both! I see my skin way less oily than if I hadn’t used it.

Speaking of sunscreen, I use a few things to control my oil, and sunscreen is a huge part of this.I really love the simple fact that I wear sunscreen regularly now, and that it is really detrimental in helping me control my oily skin. With that said, this cream hates sunscreen! I don’t know what it is, but something in the ingredients, or in my sunscreen’s ingredients hates it. When I use this with sunscreen (or sunscreen primer), it just starts pilling up and leaves flakes of residue on my face, which then interferes with my foundation application. So when I use this, I have to make a decision to not wear sunscreen.

Another thing to mention about Sebium Mat is the moisturizing part of it. In my mind, I never thought matte and moisturize could work together in harmony, but they do. If you have combination skin, you will probably love this cream, but I find it a bit too moisturizing for me (I know, who says that?) so most days I skip it and just opt for sunscreen or sunscreen primer. Lately I have been using Sunkiller Super Lasting Base SPF 50+ PA++++ and it is outstanding (I’ll review it soon)!

The bottom line, is most folks with oily or combination skin will like this. I didn’t experience any side effects while using it, and it has a slight perfumey smell to it, but it isn’t intrusive and goes away after a few seconds. It’s a good value and a good product. I do, indeed recommend.

I'm always looking for a great moisturizer. My skin goes through extreme dry period and finding one that gives the moisture I need without clogging my pores is so important…

This is cool to know for these upcoming Summer months when my skin gets more oily. The product with SpF 50 sounds interesting too because I'm always here for skin protection

My skin is definitely combination, but I don't wear makeup enough to really worry about primers. When I do 'prime', I use milk of magnesia 🙂 Cheap and it gets the job done.

Hey T! I used to use that a while back, but stopped because I had to wear lots of foundation to cover up the white spots (I never washed it off because it worked better that way). But it certainly does work! I wonder how it would be mixed in with some stuff!

The Mister has oil skin and he is always trying to find something to help it. Maybe it can work on his skin.

Sounds like a good product. My skin is dry so all that moisture would be good for me!

Hey Cam, I think this might cause some drying for you, if you already have dry skin. You could probably skip it!

Now if you say this will help with my oily skin and keeping it under control—- I am sold! It's so hard to find something that really works.

It is hard! This definitely works but because my skin is *very* oily, I still use primer with it.
