Clarins Multi-Active Jour Day Cream SPF 20 Review

I was introduced to Clarins Multi-Active Jour Cream SPF 20 ($54.00) via a deluxe-sized sample. The sample of this moisturizer convinced me to go ahead and purchase the full-sized version. That’s significant for me because there aren’t many products that have made me go out and buy the full-sized version, especially in skincare.

The deluxe-sized sample lasted me nearly a month before I decided to go and purchase the full size so if you see a deluxe sample of this cream, go for it. All I need is a dime-sized amount for moistful (not a real word) goodness.

My skin type

I have very oily skin, large pores on my nose and inner cheeks and suffer from acne scarring. I also have mild hormonal (one or two) breakouts on my chin and cheeks and eye bags that bother the crap out of me.

What it’s supposed to do

A moisturizer that helps visibly minimize fine lines  boost radiance, and fight the effects of daytime stress. Encapsulated Teasel extract delivers targeted revitalizing and anti-aging action to where your skin needs it most. Myrothamnus extract visibly smoothes, tones and de-stresses.

How I use it

I use this cream in the morning and at night. I use it dead last in the morning before makeup and right before applying a sleeping mask at night.

How long I used it

It’s been over a month.

Short-term results

It makes my face extra smooth and contains SPF 20. It’s a heavier moisturizer, but does not feel heavy on my skin. It hasn’t made me break out, either. It’s a dream to apply and makes me feel like I am treating myself when I put it on. It does have a very noticeable floral fragrance that may linger. I generally prefer non-scented skincare, but I happen to be testing a vitamin c emulsion, which smells awful, so I am  grateful for the scent covering it.

Long-term results

I only really have fine lines around my eyes which are only noticeable when I smile. It’s hard for me to remember to focus my moisturizer in that area unless I’m using a targeted eye cream. I use a lot of products, and I can’t say it’s providing a boost in radiance on its own but I do feel using it in combination with other products gives my skin the appearance of radiance, or glow.
