Spotlight on Sunscreen: Are You Using Enough? (Plus Sunscreen in a Ball!)

Did you know you’re supposed to wear a shot glass full of sunscreen every day (~1 oz.)?

Do you know how much sunscreen you’re supposed to put on your face? I have always kind of winged it but we should all really be following the teaspoon rule. One teaspoon of sunscreen is supposed to be enough for your face, head, and neck. Here’s a great  graphic you should print out and tape on your wall.

I can be the first to admit, I don’t wear sunscreen as much as I should, and it turns out, I certainly don’t use enough! This week, I’m participating in a sunscreen awareness campaign hosted by Beautyandthecat. Summer is coming! And it has no mercy! For the past couple of days it has been in the 90s here in DC, and as I commute and frolic to and fro, the sun’s rays are just beating down on me. While it feels nice, we should all make sure we are protected! You don’t want to end up like this. Yes my dark-skinned divas, I’m talking to you, too!

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, sunscreen needs to be applied at least 15 minutes before going outside and reapplied approximately every two hours or after doing activities that disturb the product (like swimming or sweating).

Angela is in the process of fixing the problem of getting the right amount of sunscreen on my face and for everyone else that’s scatterbrained about sunscreen. The answer is…

Sunscreen balls!

If you’re clutching your pearls, you may call them Sunpearls, as that’s what they will actually be called if they get enough votes to be produced into an actual product.

When she first told me of her collaboration with Volition Beauty on these I got so excited! It’s a brilliant idea! Can you imagine? I’d look forward to using these everyday and they’re perfect for travel. When reapplying, all you need to do is just grab a ball and rub it on your face. How convenient! There would be no excuse anymore! And we can all look young and beautiful forever (hehe)! 😊

But wait, there’s more. Not only would it be a sunscreen, but also a moisturizer!

I am a fan of multitasking and if I can simplify my routine and replace my moisturizer with this in the morning, win, win win! No more measuring or forgetting!

Go vote for Angela’s Balls Sunpearls now! Voting for the sunpearls doesn’t commit you to buying them, it just helps get them made! You will, however, receive a nice little discount, if they do get made!
