Unclog Your Pores with Skinfood Egg White Pore Mask!

Sometimes, I know right away whether or not I like something. Masks are one of those things I am very quick to judge because you have to slather it on your entire face and sit with it. The Skinfood Egg White Pore Mask almost got the trash bucket, but I gave this multiple chances and it turns out, I actually like it and would rebuy it.

My skin type

I have very oily skin, large pores on my inner cheeks, whiteheads on my nose, and suffer from acne scarring. I also have mild hormonal (one or two) breakouts on my chin and cheeks and eye bags that bother the crap out of me.

What it’s supposed to do

Shrink and unclog pores.

The key ingredient the brand promotes is albumen found in eggs. While I haven’t been able to find any scientific proof, or even research on the effect of egg albumen on human skin, people seem to really believe it works.

Ingredients

Water, Butylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide, Glycerin, Bentonite, Silica, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Polysorbate 60, Kaolin, Zinc Oxide, Betaine, Sorbitan Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Polyvinyl Alcohol, PVP, Phenoxyethanol, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance, Albumen, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Disodium EDTA

How I use it

  1. I apply a thin layer to my face after cleansing and let sit for 20 min or until it’s dry. The face feels tightened and then I rinse with warm water.
  2. I recently used this with my new facial steamer. After cleansing, toning, and acids, I apply a thin layer with the steamer still going. I don’t let it dry down completely and leave it on for 12-15 minutes. To remove, I use a wet towel and wipe off for a bit more exfoliation.

How long I used it

I have had this mask for nearly a year and but only really started enjoying it maybe six months after buying it. After the second time I used it, I decided it was worth it.

Short term results

While the mask doesn’t shrink my pores, it definitely unclogs them. This mask is great for lurker zits. By the next morning, they have revealed themselves and I can go about my business! An added plus is that my face is left pretty smooth after use.

Long term results

Since I use the mask as more of a treatment, long term I can only say that I will continue to use this mask that way. I currently use it once every 2-3 weeks.

Albumen is pretty far down on the ingredients list, so I can’t really say what makes this mask work. Clay masks are great for oily skin, but none of my other clay masks expose my lurker zits. Perhaps I will do an egg white mask and compare!

Hey! I recently came across your blog and I'm really interested in the SkinFood's egg white pore mask! Still currently testing Innisfree's Volcanic Clay Mask myself x
