Dewy skin has always escaped me and my oily skin. I just don’t feel quite comfortable with the dewy look because I’m paranoid that I just look greasy, which in my opinion, I do. I often still try it anyway but decided to mattify it out a bit. If you’re one of those people like me that love the dewy look on other people but aren’t confident about it on yourself, you may want to try this dewy matte look I came up with.
Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint, applied with a stippling brush
This is the base of the look; the Velvet Matte Skin Tint is more like a foundation in my opinion, but there are still some qualities about it that give it a look of being a tinted moisturizer. Speaking of moisturizing, it is slightly moisturizing. Definitely more moisturizing than any other foundation I have. For that reason, it mixes with my natural skin oils and separates on my skin. Which leads me to the necessity of the next product.
Mac Mineralize SkinFinish Natural Powder, applied with a dense foundation brush
This powder does a pretty good job at controlling oil, and for this dewy matte look, I focused it on areas I produced the most oil: my cheeks and the middle of my forehead. The powder itself isn’t overly mattifying so it’s a good match for the Skin Tint.
Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Liner
The name of the game here is ease, and natural. The Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Liner is the easier eyeliner pen I have ever used. I have a review partially drafted for it (and two others) but I’ll just say here that it’s easy to use, goes on opaque in one stroke, and great for wings or no wings. When I finish this, I am going to repurchase it.
This brow pencil, and Anastasia Beverly Hill’s brow products have definitely changed the makeup world. Brow Wiz is a great pencil for those with sparse brows like myself. You can be as precise as you want, or not so precise, and still come out with great looking brows. I chose Brow Wiz because of how easy it is to use it, how quickly to takes to fill in my brows, and how natural the result is.
I applied the Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick in Es Vedra on my cheeks and lips to complete the dewy matte look. The beach stick never really seems to dry down to me and is very creamy, making it perfect for this look. In addition, it can be as sheer as you want it or built up for more color.
