Today I wanted to show you all the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Universe Unlocked Palette and share my thoughts about this brand new palette available for the holiday season.
My Skin Type
Slightly oily these days but not as oily as it used to be.
What it’s supposed to do
Blush, bronze, and highlight. The palette has five shades:
- Ambient Lighting Powder – Radiant Light (Golden Beige)
- Ambient Lighting Blush – Rose Heat (Deep Berry)
- Ambient Lighting Blush – Coral Flush (Bright Peony)
- Ambient Lighting Bronzer – Radiant Bronze Light (Warm Bronze)
- Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Powder – Solar Strobe Light (Metallic Champagne)
How I use it
I use the two blushes as directed; I love the pigmentation. Both are buildable but Rose Heat is the most pigmented. I use a light hand and build up to the color. I use the rest of the shades as a highlighter. Unfortunately, the bronzer isn’t a bronzer on me and has some shimmer. However, it is gorgeous. The finishing powder is Radiant Light and it is also in the original Ambient Light Palette. In that palette, I use that as a highlighter.
What I like about it
The quality of the powders are as expected with hourglass – above and beyond elegance. They are very easy to blend and everything shows up on me nicely. One of the best-sized mirrors in a face palette I have.
What could be better
I would have really loved to see the finishing powder in Dim Light. It is so very perfect for setting my undereye concealer and finishing off the face without the shimmer. I would also love to have seen a much darker bronzer here. I am sure some kind of user testing went into this palette but that bronzer is the same shade as some highlighters I have. I realize they released a separate bronzing palette but I wish I could have seen some of that here. I also don’t care for the matte, marbleized packaging. It doesn’t feel as sophisticated as the metallic gold palette the original has. I am considering getting the other version of this palette, too.
